Hi! ATC

Another old recipe book page. The patterned paper is from a Deja Views paper kit and was a scrap on my desk -- how convenient! I stamped the image on it and on metallic paper for the bowl. I cut out, glued on and then used a white pen for the reflection. I really like how the layered Hero Arts flowers came out. Loving the small size of the ATCs!

Live Simply ATC

I used markers to color directly on the stamp then misted slightly before staming. Next I crumpled up the paper (Sandylion) just for fun. I embossed the sentiment in black and kind of wish I hadn't now because it stands out too much now. Oh well.

The green paper "grass" at the bottom is from Doodlebug. The patterned paper is from a Deja Views paper kit and was a scrap on my desk -- how convenient!

Sweet As Pie ATC

Love using old books as background paper. This was an apple pie recipe. My embossing powder wanted to stick in all the wrong places, but I like the overall look. The brads are little buttons.

The text is a page from a 1967 printing of Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. I stamped the image with VersaMark and embossed it in red. I also embossed the edges for a worn look. It is shiny because I used Tim Holtz Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint on it. I have tried it a couple times now and seem to get mixed results.

Joy Hope Love ATC

Tree is blue tinsel (glitter) embossed then covered with Shabby Shutters Distress Ink. The snow is white embossed then covered with Broken China Distress Ink. The charms are jewelry findings. Photo came out kind of weird on this one.

Recipe Owl (My 1st ATC!)

Created for the Hero Arts Blog ATC (artist trading card) challenge. I am so pleased with the way my first ATC came out! I got the idea this morning after I read the blog (before work) and thought about it all day until I could actually come home and make it!

The background paper is from a 1967 recipe book called "Wear-Ever's Wonderful World of New Method Cooking" by Margaret Mitchell. I started looking in the dessert section and found this page with the cute measuring cup and rolling pin.

I taped the recipe to some Kraft paper to make it sturdier, then I rubbed the edges of the ATC with Antique Linen Distress Ink and handstitched in pink to make a frame. The owl is stamped on various papers, cut out, assembled, and pop-dotted. I added a few Hero Arts heart gemstones just for fun.

The butterfly is from the Hero Arts DigiKIt: Flutterbies. I'm not sure how I feel about making hybrid cards yet. Lucy and others do it beautifully, but I think I prefer making either all traditional or all digital cards. Maybe it is partly because my computer is in one part of the house and my traditional supplies are somewhere else! Anyway, thanks for looking!

I printed it out and distressed the edges. I also distressed the edges of the green photo mat. On the card base, I clear embossed the K5133 Swirl with Flowers then stamped the K5058 Friendship Writing on the top with Shabby Shutters Distress Ink. The Offray Ribbon flowers were a bit too bright, so I used my Tea Dye Distress Ink to shabby them up a bit. Then I used them as photo corners, like Nancy showed us on the blog this week. Bo Bunny Boo Crew Workshop

I took the Bo Bunny Boo Crew Halloween Workshop at Archiver's today. Fun class, but too much measuring and cutting. That always seems to eat up class time, and this was no exception. It is much easier when the kits come with the card bases cut to size.

This class had nine projects, and most of us only finished four or five! Oh well, now I can do those at at home, or use my scraps of fun Bo Bunny paper for more cards instead of the little treat boxes and cupcake toppers!

I finished four cards and a tag:

Here are some closeups:

Timeless Traditions Holiday Card Workshop

I took the Timeless Traditions Holiday Card Workshop at Archiver's earlier this month. Fun class, but it was sure busy and crowded!

This workshop featured Hero Arts stamps (my favorite!), a neat multi-color embossing technique, and a unique use of Tattered Angels glimmer mists to paint stamped images.

Here is a picture of all of the cards we made (not bad for $15!):

The tree and sentiment was embossed in gold on this Merry Christmas card. Then we sprayed Meadow Green Glimmer Mist into a bowl and used a paint brush to color the tree. We also used Apple Red on the base. Fun technique!

We used the multi-color embossing technique on this snowflake card. Just stamp with Versamark ink, then apply gold embossing powder to part of the image and silver embossing powder on the rest. Very easy and gives a nice two-tone shine. Sorry the picture didn't come out better -- flash + glimmer cardstock = not good.

Same embossing technique on this bird card, then we filled it in with a glue pen and Hero Arts Prisma Glitter. The Hero Arts pointsettia was sprayed with Apple Red Glimmer Mist for a nice shine.

The white panel was the only piece we had to cut ourselves and I managed to mess it up in the die cutting machine-- it was supposed to have the scallop edge all the way around but mine got cut off. Oh well, I just adhered it to the bottom instead. The great thing about giving handmade cards is that usually the people you give them to don't really notice those things!

I think this last card is my favorite. It used the same embossing technique as well.

Florence Fruit Stand

I created a digital card using a photo I took in Florence, Italy in October 2006. This fruit stand was down a little side street. It seemed like an odd place to take a photo, but I thought it was really beautiful. I pulled the color for the red scallopped edge out of the basket of apples. I made the word art myself.

Two Peas + Cricut Contest: Week 1

These cards were created for Week 1 of the Two Peas + Cricut Contest. They will be going to OperationWriteHome (formerly CardsforHeroes).

I used the Cricut From My Kitchen cartridge to cut the coffee pots and Accent Essentials to cut the bracket shape. Cricut makes it so easy and fast to make multiples like this. I only had enough paper to make 7 cards, so I just set my quantity button at 7 for each cut. So simple!

I stamped the bracket shape with the Hero Arts Old Writing Background in Tim Holtz Tattered Rose Distress Ink to make my own tone-on-tone background paper. I learned this in Thinking Inking with Jennifer McGuire. The inside is stamped with a Hero Arts Coffee Sparkle Clear greeting.

Be sure to check out the latest Cricut Promotion, The Great Gypsy Escape! Purchase one of 4 new Cricut catridges for a chance to win a new Gyspy (handheld design studio for Cricut), $2,000 travel vouchers and even a $30,000 trip to one of 5 fabulous locations!

Check this out! So cute and you can get it free here from Robyn!

Thanks, Robyn!

What's Cooking?

Just sharing. I made a set of 5 of these to submit for a silent auction for charity. The pot is cut from the Cricut From My Kitchen cartridge. The text paper is from a 1973 Family Circle cookbook that I bought tonight at Goodwill for $1.99. Each card has a different recipe on it.
