September Card Chain Challenge

Deborah hosted another fun Card Chain Challenge in September. I look forward to this each month, even though it seems like Deborah's sketches and color palettes get harder and harder!

This is the card I sent to Deirdre in Ireland. I used Deborah's sketch and color palette along with Hero Arts sentiment and leaf stamps plus some fun orange buttons and twine. I also added glossy accents to the leaf.

Sally sent me "Royal Mail" from England. Isn't this butterfly lovely? I really like the body made from pearls and the wire antennae! Oh, and aren't those poppies beautiful, too? Thanks so much, Sally!

More Cards for Kids

Here are some more cards that I sent in for Cards for Kids recently.

There is a girl version:

...and a boy version:

I find it easier and quicker to make multiples of some designs when making cards for multiple groups like Cards for Kids and Operation Write Home. I remember coloring in the frogs while waiting for a doctor's appointment a few weeks ago!

I logged my volunteer hours formaking Operation Write Home cards and the company where I work graciously donated a $200.00 grant to them! That is pretty cool considering I would have made the cards either way. If you work at a large company please check to see if they have a similar volunteer program that might benefit your favorite charity.

Stamp(s): Hero Arts (CG138 Ledger); Papertrey Ink (Tiny Treats: Valentine)
Ink(s): Hero Arts (Soft Leaf); Tsukineko (Tuxedo Black)
Paper(s): The Paper Company; Neenah (Classic Crest Solar White)
Other: Copic (Markers); Nestabilities

Mini Art Quilts

Here are three mini art quilts (9" x 9") I made last weekend. They are inspired by Donna Downey's Art Quilt Video Workshop. It is a bargain for only $5.00.

For this first one in pink I used the "House A Home" stamp set from Ippity (purchased from Maria Gurnsey), Karen Foster charms, Prima flowers, and some buttons, and baubles, and brads from my stash. Ha - this reminds me of the Wizard of Oz when Dorothy says "Lions, and tigers, and bears! Oh, my!".

For the second one I stuck to a bright orange and yellow color palette. I added a Hero Arts sentiment around the border, plus more buttons, brads, baubles, and eyelets from my stash. I also included some Hero Arts flowers and some Tim Holtz embellishments.

For this last one I used lots and lots of little goodies from my kitty stash. I stamped the border with some Technique Tuesday stamps. Aren't those fabric cats sweet? These mini art quilts are a lot of fun to make.

And finally, this is a smaller project that was stamped with Staz-On ink using Stamendous and Tim Holtz stamps. It was colored with Golden Fluid Acrylics, then I added some Prima Flower Centers and gems. The text reads "live in the moment and make it so beautiful that it will be worth remembering".
