Jennifer McGuire Classes

I attended two wonderful Jennifer McGuire classes, Technique Bootcamp and Holiday Madness, near Dayton, Ohio on November 21st. If you are ever near Dayton, be sure to check Simply Scrapbooks out! Great classroom area, friendly staff, and oh so many products! If I lived a bit closer I would probably sign up for all of their classes!

Here is a look at some of the supplies we used in class. Lots of wood, cling, and clear Hero Arts stamps plus tons of Ranger products including alcohol inks and Stickles. I think Jennifer singlehandedly stimulated the economy with her Thinking Inking Class at Two Peas because I already had most of these products! My new favorite from that day is definitely the white Memories ink pad. It is amazing how much better it shows up than my other white ink pads. Great of kraft paper, too.

Here is Jennifer demonstrating how to color directly on a rubber stamp (Hero Arts, of course) with markers. I snuck a few pictures with my iPhone, but this is the only one that came out very well.

Jennifer is just as amazing in person as she is online and in her videos. So kind, creative, and talented. Very fast-paced classes, but so worth it. The kits were awesome -- some items were pre-cut and pre-stamped to save time and she even included a picture of each card in the kits. Plus Ken and Colin made a couple of cameos! Such a cute family. At the end of the day Ken said they are her clean-up crew, but that she pays well. :)

Without further ado, here are the cards I made in the Technique Bootcamp class:

And here are the cards I made in the Holiday Madness class:

It is too hard to pick a favorite card. I love them all and don't know if I'll ever be able to part with them! BIG BIG thanks and hugs to Jennifer -- you are truly the best! I am so glad I was able to take these classes!

Hugs,
dustypenny (aka Joy)

P.S. Special thanks to my husband for driving that day and entertaining himself in Dayton while I was in class. Love you, Stephen!

Trimmings Challenge Winner

I love Hero Arts. They chose my layered snowman tag as the winner of the digital category for last week's Trimmings Challenge. Thanks so much, Hero Arts! It was a lot of fun to make this tag!

Long day today. Drove to Louisville to go to a flea market with my Dad. Got a ton of vintage stuff including buttons, postcards, sheet music, recipe books, etc. Someday they will make it into my cards or other projects. Too bad we have to sleep or else I'd have lots more time to craft!

This card is for the MoxieFabWorld Christmas in the Old Country challlenge.  The stamp is from Stampendous. I colored it in with Copics, cut it out and pop-dotted it to the plain kraft. The "snow" on the card base is from Hero Arts.

I created this ornament for the Hero Arts Blog "Trimming" Challenge. I stamped the kitty from the Hero Arts Decorate Your Own set in black ink on a tiny piece of fabric then colored it with Copics. I cut the red felt with a Sizzix Square Card die in my Cuttlebug. Next I stitched the green frame, added three Autumn Leaves buttons on the right and stitched everything together in white, adding some fiberfill just before closing. Finally, I added the striped ribbon by Bazzill, the Hero Arts pointsettia, and another big button. Thanks for looking!

Snowman

his is one of the cards I made for the Hero Arts Blog Glitter Challenge this week. The Hero Arts flourish background looks like cold winter air. I stamped it in Versamark and then used a clear embossing powder with glitter in it. The snowman was colored with Copics and he has glitter on his coat and hat. The flowers were sprayed with Pearl Glimmer Mist.

Here he is inside:

Dove Tags Featuring Dusty

The Hero Arts dove (Archiver's exclusive) and sentiment are stamped in VersaMark then emossed in silver. The silver edge is from a Krylon Pen.

I made 8 or 10 of these tags with various types of glitter, but it just won't show up well in the photos. At least Dusty likes them!

Vintage Christmas Postcard ATC (traded)

Just sharing. I really like how this ATC turned out! It will be heading to Australia for a swap on http://www.atcsforall.com/ soon!

I designed this in Photoshop Elements and then I printed out the whole thing plus each separate part. I cut everything out, inked all the edges with brown ink and then reassembled it. The cat and the bird are pop-dotted for dimension.

Images from The Graphics Fairy and Dave's Photostream/ (cat)

I am linking this to Brag Monday at The Graphics Fairy. Karen has a great site with tons of free vintage images. Love it!

Artist Class Paper Doll Dress Card

I made this adorable vintage-looking paper doll dress this week from Karla Nathan's tutorial in Artist Class. I think this makes a perfect little girl's card.

Karla's tutorial included three hand drawn dresses, an apron, and a doll, plus very detailed step-by-step instructions. I made my dress fairly simple, but the ones Karla made are just stunning and included ribbon, lace, vintage ephemera, and more.

By the way, you can still register for Artist Class - the blog will be open through February and the projects just started. You can sign up here; don't forget to use my code "dustypenny" (no quotes) for a $10 discount!

Artist Class Little Box of Gift Tags Plus a Card

I made this lovely vintage-looking Box of Gift Tags Plus a Card this week from Beth Leintz's fun tutorial in Artist Class. I'll be using it as a small gift for someone special if I can part with it!

I used a simple Hero Arts Hello stamp on the tags inside the tin and a Hero Arts flower and button on the lid. The paper is Life's Journey by K&Company and it works beautifully with the vintage girls.

Card Chain Challenge From Suzanne

This lovely card from mrsr1 - Suzanne arrived in my mailbox today for the October Card Chain Challenge! She used the Hero Arts Cling Stamp CG120 Antique Writing and made all of the challenge colors work together so well. There are also lots of blue gems, black pearls, and glitter. And the delicate punched border adds so much to the card. Thanks so much Suzanne!
